Job description

A fast-growing company rebuilding veterinary care from the ground up is looking to hire a Full-Stack Developer (Back-End Heavy). As a developer, you will work with an incredible amount of responsibility and in close collaboration with the product team to drive the software solutions forward. The company is building an AAA team and focusing efforts on a great customer experience, team happiness, growth, and development for the vets. Candidates who would like to join an early-stage company and help shape its processes from scratch to build the technological backbone are suitable for this position.

  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and work on the technological backbone
  • Design and develop the growing back-end systems and APIs to support consumer-facing applications and the practice management software
  • Develop high-quality code that scales and fits business needs 
  • Create relevant tests to ensure reliable implementation 
  • Examine best practice non-functional requirements
  • Implement a high level of security and performance for all developed solutions
  • Help define coding standards and best practices for the engineering team to establish a high-quality tech culture
  • Drive for leading initiatives and features till the end, even if the last mile is the hardest
  • Ensure the technical feasibility and best practices such as clean code
  • Build a fast customer-feedback cycle and empathy for the end-user
  • Contribute to a collaborative atmosphere while working closely and effectively with the operations and product teams to ensure optimal functionality and user experience

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant software engineering experience 
  • Significant professional experience, ideally with digital consumer offerings in high-growth environments
  • Solid technical background and ideally computer science studies
  • Experience in modern engineering practices that includes CI/CD, etc. 
  • Competency in modern engineering architectures (micro-services, event-driven, etc.)
  • Pragmatism to constructively move the product and feature pipeline forward
  • Significant experience in cloud infrastructure (e.g., DigitalOcean, AWS)
  • Good knowledge of containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Proficiency in working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Familiarity with Integrations using 3rd parties / APIs (e.g., REST, GraphQL)
  • Knowledge of modern web application back-ends (e.g., Node.js, Typescript)
  • Ability to work as a cross-language engineer for whom a specific stack is just a tool to solve a problem, not the solution itself
