Skills required to become a Java/Kotlin engineer
To secure high-paying Java/Kotlin jobs, the first step is to have a firm foundation in the needed abilities. Here's all you need to know!
1. Java
The most widely used object-oriented programming language is Java. Java has a straightforward structure that makes it simple to use and troubleshoot. It has lately received a lot of interest, owing to various security characteristics that allow for more robust applications. Java allows you to create a wide range of apps for a variety of purposes. Web services, desktop apps, network apps, and other applications are among them.
2. Kotlin
Kotlin is a Java Virtual Machine-based object-oriented programming language. It's compatible with Java and comes with extra features out of the box, such as data classes, null safety, and companion objects. Kotlin is a contemporary, expressive language that is simple to learn and write. Its Native technology translates your Kotlin code into JavaScript for cross-platform execution, allowing you to utilize it for server-side development or Android apps. One of the most appealing characteristics is how simple it is to transform old Java libraries into Kotlin equivalents, which can subsequently be reused in any future project.
3. Software design and architecture
The most important phases in the software development process are software design and architecture. The ability to understand the big picture and choose the proper technology stack and architecture to use in an application is a key talent for every Java/Kotlin engineer. Learning software architecture can help you advance your profession by setting you apart from other engineers.
4. XML
In the development of portable online and eCommerce apps, XML is used. To improve the user experience, you may add interactive and configurable pages. XML allows for universal data access, making it easy for all sorts of applications and devices to utilise, store, send, and display data. An XSL Transformation processor is included with XML, and it has its own set of formatting rules. This processor determines how data should appear on screen or when printed on paper.
5. Unit testing
The more the Java/Kotlin application grows, the more effort it takes to maintain and write automated tests, such as integration and unit tests, that are necessary to launch the application. The deployment and assembly of any Java programme is not very quick. Unit testing technologies such as TestNg and JUnit are useful in this situation. These frameworks make developing automated tests faster, provide instant feedback on passed tests, and have a simple syntax. JUnit advocates a "testing first" strategy that improves the programmer's productivity while also ensuring the codebase's stability. This decreases the programmer's workload and debugging time.
6. SQL
SQL is a language that allows you to communicate with a database. It's the most used programming language for relational database management systems. You may use SQL statements to conduct a variety of activities, including altering database data and obtaining data from the database.
