How to become an Azure/GCP engineer ?

Software development is a multi-step process that can take a long time to complete. The process includes development, deployment, testing, and design. Azure/GCP engineers collaborate to ensure that all stages of development are error-free and well-optimized.

GCP is a set of cloud computing services based on the Google App Engine framework that allows web applications to be hosted from Google's data centers. Since its inception in 2008, it has evolved into one of the market's leading cloud computing platforms, though it still trails Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure in terms of market share.

Whereas, Azure is a cloud computing platform that allows you to access and manage Microsoft's cloud services and other resources. These resources and services include data storage and transformation based on your specifications. Azure provides over 200 services divided into 18 categories, including networking, IoT, computing, storage, migration, analytics, AI, Machine Learning, containers, developer tools, management tools, databases, security, DevOps, web services, and more.

What is the scope of an Azure/GCP engineer?

Azure is Microsoft's fastest and largest growing business, and it is especially important for companies with a "Mobile First, Cloud First" business strategy. Based on Microsoft's industry strength, it is easy to conclude that Azure will continue to grow in the most relevant areas of technology. Because the majority of the services and systems that can analyze and process that information are hosted in the cloud, the next wave of technology will be focused on data.

Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a public cloud computing service that provides a range of hosted computing, storage, and application development services. Software developers, cloud administrators, and business IT experts can access GCP services via the public internet or a dedicated network connection.

Businesses must recruit top Azure/GCP engineers to realize the benefits of the service for computing, storage, networking, big data, ML, and IoT, as well as cloud management, security, and developer tools.

What are the roles and responsibilities of an Azure/GCP engineer?

While the roles of an Azure/GCP engineer vary depending on the project, they are also responsible for a variety of other tasks such as designing solutions, architecture, representing products in client meetings, working on GCP architecture in accordance with the company's needs, and requirements, and so on.

Azure/GCP engineers work with cloud solution architects, cloud DBAs, cloud administrators, and clients to implement solutions. This role entails involvement in all aspects of cloud development, from requirements, definition, and design to development, deployment, maintenance, and performance tuning and monitoring.

If you are looking for remote Azure/GCP engineer jobs, mentioned below are a few of the responsibilities of an Azure/GCP engineer:

  • Work with Microsoft products such as PowerShell, Office 365, and others that are integrated with Azure.
  • Should be involved in app development and have knowledge of languages such as SQL, JavaScript, and HTML.
  • Using native Azure services, address the firm's technological and resiliency needs.
  • Drive the software monitoring strategy, as well as identity and access management and configuration management.
  • Lead the network connectivity design process
  • Cloud application development, deployment, and debugging
  • Expertise in the use of APIs, command-line interfaces, and SDKs for developing applications
  • Understanding of the key features of Cloud Service Providers
  • Knowledge of application lifecycle management
  • To deploy applications, use continuous integration and distribution pipelines.
  • Code for implementing critical security measures
  • Code modules must be written, corrected, and debugged.
  • Skills in writing code for serverless applications
  • Understanding how containers are used in development processes

How to become an Azure/GCP engineer?

Individuals can become specialists thanks to the DevOps Cloud Professional certification. Furthermore, for high-paying positions, credentials such as the Google Professional Cloud Developer Certification are required. Above all, the Professional Cloud Developer exam will help you develop apps with supporting services. In other words, you'll be utilizing Google Cloud Professional Services to provide best practises for completing application-related activities.

Various Azure developer certifications can help you land a job as an Azure developer faster. The certification sets your profile apart from the crowd and demonstrates that you possess the necessary skills and potential to excel in the field. Microsoft also offers certifications for those wishing to work as an Azure developer.

A Bachelor's Degree is required for the Azure/GCP developer role. Ideally, a degree in computer science, cyber security, information security, engineering, or information technology. Certifications include AWS Certified Architect, MCSE new role-based certifications (Azure), GCP Cloud Architect, CCSP, and CISSP.

Furthermore, various cloud certifications will allow you to demonstrate your application development and design abilities, and expertise. With these qualifications and skills, you can land remote Azure/GCP engineer jobs.

Skills required to become an Azure/GCP engineer

1. Cloud Engineering

You can't get started with Cloud Computing unless you first understand how different Cloud Service Providers work. Cloud service providers such as GCP, Microsoft’s Azure offer end-to-end services such as compute, storage, databases, machine learning, and migration, allowing them to handle virtually anything related to cloud computing, making it a critical cloud engineer talent.

2. Cloud-native application design

To ensure that your applications are performant and secure, you will need a solid theoretical foundation in application design concepts. You must also be aware of the full range of GCP services that are available in order to make the best data and storage architecture decisions.

3. Cloud networking

It is linked to cloud computing because centralized computer resources are shared for clients via the Cloud. It has sparked a trend of moving more network management operations to the cloud, thereby reducing the need for consumer devices to operate the network.
Because of improved Internet connectivity and stable WAN bandwidth, more networking administration operations can now be pushed to the cloud. Customers are looking for easier ways to set up and access networks using a cloud-based service, which has increased the demand for cloud networking.
Remote Azure/GCP engineers may also be in charge of creating automated adjustment mechanisms to ensure that the network responds to user requirements. As a result, knowing networking fundamentals and virtual networks are critical Cloud engineer skills because they are critical to cloud networking.

4. Linux

Its open-source nature, ease of customization, security, and other benefits make Linux a programmer's dream. We see Linux being used on a variety of cloud platforms because cloud providers are aware of this. Engineers in Azure/GCP must be capable of architecting, planning, constructing, managing, and maintaining Linux servers in a cloud environment. This single cloud Engineer competency may be sufficient for you to live and thrive in the Cloud domain.

5. Virtualization

By running multiple "virtual computers" side by side on the same hardware, imitating various components of their IT systems, virtualization software has enabled many users to reduce or better utilize their hardware assets.
Virtualization is essential for organizations to gain access to scalable, fault-tolerant resources. A solid understanding of virtualization or services such as virtual machines, EC2, and Lambda would be a significant step toward Serverless Computing. As a result, it's top-tier cloud engineer knowledge.

6. Containers

Containers are a logical packaging technique for applications that allows them to be separated from the environment in which they operate. This decoupling enables container-based apps to be deployed quickly and reliably, regardless of whether the target environment is a private data center, public cloud, or even a developer's laptop. As a result, understanding how popular containers such as Kubernetes and Docker work can help your CV in the Cloud domain.

7. Programming abilities

When it comes to cloud engineering abilities, the role of developers in the computer world cannot be overlooked. Apps can be created, deployed, and managed quickly by developers. In cloud computing, this property is used for scalability and strength. As a result, understanding the appropriate programming languages or frameworks may be advantageous. Some of the best Azure/GCP engineers are fluent in.NET, SQL, Python, and Java.
