Job description

A fast-growing company that is revolutionizing the transportation industry with modern mobilization solutions is looking for a Data Engineer. The selected candidate will be tasked with analyzing and understanding business requirements and translating them into logical data models. The US-based company is developing a cutting-edge software suite to enable businesses in managing their operations, which will help them achieve their goal of making transportation more effective, fun, and accessible. So far, they have managed to raise more than $22mn in funding. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Write easy to scale, extensible, and high-performance codes
  • Contribute to different development processes, including - data models, ETL processes, data warehouse applications, and business intelligence (BI) applications
  • Work on developing automated processes for data conversion and updates
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions
  • Mine and analyze data from the databases to optimization services
  • Assist in judging the efficiency and accuracy of new data sources and gathering techniques
  • Help build data models and algorithms for applying to data sets
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement new models and monitor results
  • Build processes and tools for monitoring and analyzing model performance and data accuracy
  • Assist in building visualizations, BI, and presentation data for stakeholders
  • Stay true to preferred policies, practices, and teamwork when building products
  • Accountable for product quality with a clear understanding of quality.
  • Work as a mentor to juniors and new technical members
  • Take charge of identifying and implementing processes, systems, and platform improvements to drive resources with efficiency, improves quality, and expand capabilities
  • Be proactive about anticipating problems and challenges
  • Make sure essential people, processes, and systems are in place to accomplish the goal while accommodating growth, measuring results, and minimizing risks
  • Focus on quality and continuous improvement while demonstrating leadership skills

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5 years of experience in Big Data, ETL processes, Data warehouses, BI, Machine Learning, and Optimization Engines
  • Must possess experience in working with a variety of ML techniques like clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc
  • Strong grasp of statistical computer languages like R, Python, SLQ, or Scala to manipulate data for identifying insights from large data sets
  • Prior experience in creating and managing data architectures
  • Thorough understanding of Cloud services and architectures with AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Should be able to utilize RBDMS and NoSQL databases like MS SQL, MySQL and PostgresSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and Cassandra
  • Must be well-versed with data models, ETL processes, data warehouse applications, and business intelligence (BI) applications using resources like SQL, SSIS, SSRS, OLAP, and open-source data integration tools.
  • Must be familiar with distributed data/computing tools like Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, MySQL, etc.
  • Expertise in coding with different languages like Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, and more
  • Must be able to visualize/present data for stakeholders using tools like YellowFin, Periscope, Business Objects, D3, ggplot, etc.
  • Must be well-versed with Agile and SCRUM practices/methodologies and experience leading Scrum teams
  • Produce efficient and performant solutions while working in a team environment
  • Should be capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical personnel
  • Should be able to suggest the right technologies and solutions without being encumbered by trying to adapt to past approaches
  • Must be an excellent team player with the ability to communicate with a diverse team
  • Must be able to contribute under pressure to meet deadlines using time management skills 
  • Should be able to manage conflicts, difficult situations, and urgent issues in a professional manner
  • Self-starter with a sense of extreme ownership and displays a commitment to test and deliver high-quality software and teamwork
