Job description

A well-established company leading in emergency collaboration technologies and helping emergency call centers save lives daily, is looking for a Data Engineer. The engineer will take part in building a new team and helping to develop brand-new data products to visualize and analyze data across a wide range of data sources and geographies. The company is building a platform that connects game-changing capabilities to people in crisis, such as live video, instant chat, and location tracking. Candidates with excellent communication skills, sound business acumen, and problem-solving aptitude are well-suited for this role.

Job Responsibilities:

Understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
Develop and deploy data pipelines for BI tools
Help maintain and support cloud-native data-analysis platforms
Build tools for ingesting, transforming, and saving data
Perform unit tests and troubleshoot errors to improve performance
Work alongside different teams to integrate different systems
Build and execute database queries and analyze results
Work closely with product development teams to define the implementation strategy
Develop visualizations and reports for key product features
Draft and update technical documentation

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
At least 2-4+ years of relevant experience as a data engineer
Must have experience in developing services using Scala or Java
Ability to work with tools like Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and Presto
Familiarity with data warehouse design and data mining is vital
Thorough understanding of DBMS, online analytical processing, and ETL frameworks
Familiarity with working with BI tools and SQL queries
Experience in the emergency services industry will be a bonus
Knowledge of Amazon AWS or other cloud services is a plus
Knowledge of cloud services like AWS is essential
Ability to take initiative, work with an analytical and innovative mindset
