Job description

A well-established company leading in emergency collaboration technologies and helping emergency call centers save lives daily, is looking for a Data Engineer. The engineer will take part in building a new team and helping to develop brand-new data products to visualize and analyze data across a wide range of data sources and geographies. The company is building a platform that connects game-changing capabilities to people in crisis, such as live video, instant chat, and location tracking. Candidates with excellent communication skills, sound business acumen, and problem-solving aptitude are well-suited for this role.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Develop and deploy data pipelines for BI tools
  • Help maintain and support cloud-native data-analysis platforms
  • Build tools for ingesting, transforming, and saving data
  • Perform unit tests and troubleshoot errors to improve performance
  • Work alongside different teams to integrate different systems
  • Build and execute database queries and analyze results
  • Work closely with product development teams to define the implementation strategy
  • Develop visualizations and reports for key product features
  • Draft and update technical documentation

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 2-4+ years of relevant experience as a data engineer
  • Must have experience in developing services using Scala or Java
  • Ability to work with tools like Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and Presto
  • Familiarity with data warehouse design and data mining is vital
  • Thorough understanding of DBMS, online analytical processing, and ETL frameworks
  • Familiarity with working with BI tools and SQL queries
  • Experience in the emergency services industry will be a bonus
  • Knowledge of Amazon AWS or other cloud services is a plus
  • Knowledge of cloud services like AWS is essential
  • Ability to take initiative, work with an analytical and innovative mindset
