Job description

A U.S.-based company that is developing an innovative SaaS platform that offers comprehensive solutions to help farmers tackle their business needs, is looking for a Software Engineer. The engineer will play a critical role in the business and will be in charge of proactively developing, designing, testing, and architecting solutions. The company is developing next-gen products and services that lie at the intersection of local food, farming, and technology that will help farmers increase sales, access more customers and save time. This position requires 6+ hours of overlap with the PST time zone. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Possess the ability to actively architect, create, develop, and test solutions while juggling a variety of challenging and conflicting technical priorities
  • Juggle numerous intricate and conflicting technical priorities 
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to gain knowledge of what it takes to launch a business
  • As a trusted advisor and team leader, you must demonstrate critical thinking, a high level of technological inventiveness, and attention to detail
  • Focus on quality, simplicity, maintainability, and performance when developing well-thought-out architecture and code
  • Take into account and promote the viewpoints and experiences of your customers
  • Take part in code reviews, which should also include testing and documentation
  • Understand and adapt to new technology, tools, procedures, and processes as your responsibility
  • Contribute to the performance, usability, and scalability optimization of our platform
  • Establish the scope of work for upcoming releases in close collaboration with product owners
  • Create and enhance tools, systems, and procedures for both small and large-scale testing
  • Engage in daily self-driven learning and team problem-solving exercises to stretch yourself
  • Develop a diverse set of technical and non-technical talents in line with the startup culture
  • Take part in all stages of our products' development, including design, coding reviews, patent creation, testing, documentation, and deployment

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • 2+ years of full-stack programming experience with an object-oriented language
  • 2+ years of experience using the most recent JS Frameworks to create responsive user interfaces
  • Vast experience in overseeing the technical designs and implementation of incredibly flexible and scalable systems
  • Passion for dynamically solving challenging software engineering puzzles
  • Deep understanding of asynchronous concepts, methods, and data structures in software design
  • Solid understanding of testing in any of the following areas: performance, security, privacy, accessibility, and localization/globalization
  • Good decision-making, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
  • Capable of making decisions about the next steps and recognizing when management approval is needed for such decisions
  • Ability to operate comfortably in a fast-paced startup setting while working without direction in unclear circumstances
  • Strong communicator with the ability to convey and disseminate ideas to corporate executives without a technical background
  • Prolific experience working closely with Node.js, React, Redux, and Webpack
  • Some experience working with Stripe, Quickbooks, Heroku, AWS, Redis, and PostgreSQL is preferred
  • Prior experience with large-scale data analytics and failure analysis is desirable
  • Nice to have some recruitment experience while assisting the team in developing a team of excellent engineers who are pioneering SaaS in a niche market
  • Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written
