Job description

A fast-growing platform that provides a curated marketplace for the creative industries to access vetted freelancers, is looking for a Python Developer. The selected candidate will be developing modern full-stack web applications and must understand the trade-offs around various architectures. The platform connects exceptional freelancers with forward-thinking businesses that are transforming the creative and technology industries. This is an amazing opportunity for developers who enjoy working with a diverse team. This role requires 2+ hours overlap with the BST time zone.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work on planning code and no-code solutions to align development processes with long-term goals of becoming the best freelancer marketplace globally
  • Mentor team members with regular chats, PR reviews, pairing, or other effective approaches
  • Own and spearhead development processes of specific features from the design stage to evaluating actual use during production utilizing back-end and infrastructure (Python3.9 and latest Django)
  • Work on developing codes individually or in pairs
  • Develop and contribute to existing open-source projects which they dog-food as part of their own platform
  • Maintain DORA metrics amongst the best in the industry to keep time-to-ship low and developer satisfaction high
  • Work in a CI-backed environment with small teams at a sustainable pace in three-week cycles
  • Use Linear internally and follow their opinionated development process
  • Frequently self-reflecting as a team with some very honest retrospectives

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a Python expert
  • Must have thorough experience of working on web applications
  • Knowledge or an urge to work with SaaS products would be a huge bonus
  • Must possess experience of working alongside and mentoring junior and mid-level developers to improve technical proficiency
  • Past experience of working with fully remote and distributed teams, with async communication and working patterns that come with that.
  • Must be fluent in English to collaborate and communicate with different team members.
  • Work with the belief that code reviews can be a great learning process for every associated developer
  • Focus on code testing and quality while understanding technical debt and how it can help to ship faster if managed properly
  • Thorough understanding of how the web and browsers work
  • Prefer concentrating on shipping features than debating tabs vs spaces
  • Prefer to move quickly and iteratively, and believe that shipping incrementally and fast is the best approach
  • Familiarity with Git, GitHub, and CI workflows
  • Should be proactive, and enjoy working with teams outside software development
