Job description

A U.S.-based company helping businesses to improve the search experience for consumers, marketers, and e-commerce sites is looking for a Lead Software Engineer. The selected candidate will be taking a leadership role while ensuring the quality of their team’s technical output. Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the engineering manager, architect, and product teams 
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including design, development, and maintenance of software code
  • Perform pull requests and code reviews for coding best practices and security requirements
  • Mentor team members as needed to help develop their skill sets
  • Collaborate with architects in design and brainstorming sessions
  • Contribute to the actual codebase as an individual contributor
  • Partner with product managers to produce delivery estimates 
  • Manage the transition from analysis through to design and delivery
  • Provide regular progress updates to and work closely with management to communicate any delivery risks or issues
  • Coordinate production releases and perform duties outside of normal work hours based on business needs
  • Mentor junior developers to increase the skill level of the team
  • Ability to convey technical and conceptual ideas/topics to non-technical personnel

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 6+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • A minimum of 5-7+ years of experience in Python, Lambda, Elastic Search, and Kubernetes
  • Prolific experience in Docker, SQS, SNS, and SQL Server
  • Prior experience in data modeling, indexing, and basic performance considerations
  • At least 3+ years of experience in AWS Cloud
  • Experience in Gateway, EC2, ECS, Faregate using ECS, ECR, EC2 Container Service, S3, and Elastic File System
  • Experience in AWS Open Search, RDS, and Application Load Balancer
  • Experience in Docker, Step functions, SQS, SNS, EventHub, Dynamo DB, Document DB, CloudWatch, Secret Manager, VPN, Subnets, Security Groups, and Microservices
  • Solid understanding of unit testing and test-driven development
  • Prior experience in writing unit test cases
  • Experience in building CI/CD pipelines and working knowledge of deployment scripts
  • Experience working in Git repository
  • Experience working in a DevOps-focused environment 
  • Advanced understanding of DevOps principles is a plus
  • Strong Agile experience working in Scrum and/or Kanban models
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure design for complex enterprise-level applications
  • Fluent in verbal and written English
