Job description

A U.S.-based company that is enabling users to save, catalog, and share their favorite dining establishments, coffee shops, and hangout spots, is looking for a Lead Mobile Engineer. The engineer will play a crucial role in bringing the company vision to life by efficiently and continuously developing, testing, and maintaining the mobile application. Job Responsibilities:

  • Engage with features and designs that are ready to be worked on
  • Carry out the intelligent translation of business requirements to the application logic to polish some aspects of some features that are only vaguely documented
  • Help with maintaining the current code base by making wise refactoring choices and fixing production issues
  • Create a solution within the software stack to fulfill the business requirements by translating them into application logic and functionalities
  • Build/develop the aforementioned application logic and functionalities into the cloud environment and mobile app using React Native and TypeScript
  • Make sure to conduct rigorous testing; don't publish errors that ought to have been found during development
  • Review the code in other developers' pull requests, and test the code directly
  • Maintain the Firebase back-end service for data, authentication, and other functions
  • Participate in timely communication (through Slack) during working hours and dependable standup and code review cycle check-ins
  • Provide a reasonable understanding of the business requirements, and whenever something is unclear or there are any doubts, always seek clarification
  • Match our design system and product UI designs pixel-perfectly using Figma, where all styling is described in great detail

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 4+ years of relevant experience as a mobile engineer
  • Prolific experience working with React Native and TypeScript
  • Must have the sound judgment to know when to advocate for or recommend alternate (easier) solutions to issues when certain features or designs demand a lot of work
  • Extensive knowledge of modern React and React Native (v0.70.x), including Hooks and other modern platform features
  • Prolific understanding of iOS build toolchains like Fastlane, including troubleshooting Podfile bugs and other package conflicts
  • Demonstrable experience working with Firebase stack, including Firestore, Auth, Auth, Cloud Functions and triggers, Phone Auth, Pushes, Remote Config, Storage, Dynamic Links, and Cloud Messaging
  • Nice to have some solid understanding of Google Maps on the mobile client, and/or the Google Places API
  • Work together with an English-speaking team on a variety of projects, such as pair programming an intricate problem, asynchronous written technical documentation, real-time Slack, etc.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken
