Job description

A fast-emerging company that focuses on developing transformative machine learning-powered products is looking to hire a Senior Data Analytics Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for designing customer-facing metrics schemas to power the company’s dashboards. The company is keen on solving complex, data-rich problems with real solutions that will have a significant economic impact. This will be an excellent chance to join a hyper-growth startup environment and build scalable solutions. This position requires at least 3+ hours of overlap with PST.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Write production-grade Redshift, Athena, and MySQL queries to transform events into metrics
  • Validate query logic against business use cases
  • Create and implement validations for data quality
  • Collaborate across teams to gather requirements and understand reporting requirement
  • Look into metric inconsistencies and data anomalies
  • Debug and optimize queries for other departments
  • Examine schema changes across engineering teams
  • Maintain high-quality metrics and data stream documentation
  • Contribute to the data engineering platform and tooling
  • Integrate reporting tables into Sisense models to facilitate reporting 
  • Manage and maintain Airflow ETL jobs
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to keep pipelines up and running
  • Work with a sense of ownership, be adaptable, and can receive/apply constructive feedback

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Information Technology, Applied Mathematics, Actuarian or Statistics (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience as a data analytics engineer is required
  • 2+ years of SQL experience is required
  • Analytical data modeling requires a strong grasp
  • Knowledge of at least one SQL variant
  • Familiarity with Redshift, Athena, and MySQL
  • Strong analytical skills and expertise with data validation
  • Experience with some data orchestration technology, such as Airflow, dbt, or Oozie
  • Previous experience in a data analyst role
  • Extra experience in data engineering or data architect role is a plus
  • Experience with A/B testing, anomaly detection, or complex event processing
  • Being passionate about joining an engineering team
  • Fluency in English language
