Job description

A U.S.-based company that is developing direct-to-consumer eCommerce flower delivery services that provide fewer, better bouquets around the nation, is looking for a Ruby on Rails Developer. The selected candidate will be responsible for documenting the technical specifications before beginning a major project. The company is committed to giving each customer the greatest flowers and bouquets possible with their personalized services. This is a great opportunity for developers who are determined to work in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Web applications should be optimized for performance and scalability
  • Engage the team in technical discussions on Slack
  • Showcase a talent in testing, as seen by strong unit test coverage, integration tests, etc.
  • Evaluate an existing codebase, spot tech debt, and advise the team as a whole on best practices, cleanup, and refactoring

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 4+ years of relevant experience as a software developer
  • Extensive experience working with Ruby on Rails and DevOps
  • Extensive experience with AWS Solutions Architecture
  • Prior experience with full-stack Ruby on Rails development, ideally for an e-commerce application
  • Ability to effectively work with both the front-end and the back-end (with the aid of a designer)
  • Prior experience troubleshooting and fixing issues in production contexts
  • Practical knowledge of MySQL, SQL, and relational databases
  • Must be enthusiastic about code quality, eager to receive (and offer) code reviews, and willing to offer constructive critique
  • Working understanding of common security flaws
  • Ability to voice concerns without being afraid to do so, such as objecting to requirements when you have a better concept
  • Nice to have some familiarity with ERP and inventory systems
  • Prior experience with a PCI Level 1 compliant business is desirable
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
