Skills required to become a PHP/WordPress developer

The first step is to learn the following core skills to help you land high-paying PHP/WordPress developer jobs.

1. JavaScript

JavaScript is an open-source, layered, general-purpose programming language. With HTML and CSS, JavaScript is the foundation of any web application. It allows you to add interactive elements to your web pages like polls, slideshows, and forms that automatically detect clicks from touchscreen devices. JavaScript enables you to add animations and scrolling to your website and handle audio and video. Also, page optimization strategies and cross-platform compatibility difficulties in websites could be implemented. Therefore, this is an essential skill to master to land remote PHP/WordPress developer jobs.

2. PHP

The HyperText Preprocessor, or PHP for short, is a scripting language for creating dynamic web pages. You can deal with pre-existing code with PHP because it has many features, such as the ability to construct custom websites faster than HTML. PHP is known for its speed, high level of interoperability at all levels, and free versions, allowing you to build websites even on low-cost hosting packages offered by many network providers. This language also allows you to set up an automatic email notification for registration and password reset with its mailer.

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) are two important web page technologies to perform the best in the selection process of remote PHP/WordPress developer jobs. HTML provides the page structure based on your project's objectives, while CSS provides both visual and auditory layouts. HTML and CSS are essential when working with graphics and scripts to create user-friendly web pages. CSS also enables you to style your pages for various devices, such as big and tiny screens or printers. It can be used with other XML-based markup languages and does not depend on HTML.

4. Drupal

Drupal is a content management system that makes creating and managing content simple. Drupal's flexibility allows you to build any platform you want, including a website, web application, intranet or internal aid system, eCommerce site, and more. Developers are also using it to create modular, custom digital methods since they may extend thousands of modules and themes to modify the display of the material. Due to its importance in development, you need to grasp it to land remote PHP/WordPress developer jobs.

5. jQuery

jQuery, a JavaScript library, makes it much easier to use JavaScript on websites. It's a package that wraps existing JavaScript functionality into methods to make it easier to use. It encourages cross-browser compatibility, animation effects, faster web page loading, and utility functions for smooth integration with JavaScript and is simple to use.

6. Version control systems

Version control systems are programs that assist you in keeping track of changes to your codebase (either single file or series of interconnected files). Businesses commonly use a version management system. If they find an error on their production website, they can go back to the earlier working copy, which was fault-free. It will also come in handy while working with others who want to work on the same project at the same time or with persons from different time zones. Many distinct software packages, such as GIT, SVN, and CVS, provide varied functions. As a fundamental development program, it is one of the most important skills to get remote PHP/WordPress developer jobs.

7. Bootstrap

Coding is essential for a successful WordPress website. However, creating each website from the ground up takes a long time, and you may go behind schedule. Therefore, you'll need to know how to use Bootstrap, a framework that offers a set of standard HTML components including the Navigation Bar, Breadcrumbs, Forms, Modals, and Carousel.

8. MySQL

MySQL is a completely managed database technology. It's a valuable skill to have if you want to land remote PHP/WordPress developer jobs. You may establish yourself as a recognized PHP/WordPress back-end developer with MySQL knowledge. You can easily crack technical interviews if you can customize the MySQL database and solve PHP and MySQL bugs.

9. Gutenberg block building

Creating custom blocks is one of the most common tasks of PHP/WordPress developers. Custom-made blocks will soon be used on other platforms. ReactJS websites can be built with Gutenberg. This versatile plugin can be applied to any aspect of WordPress development. Therefore, develop a strong understanding of Gutenberg block building to land PHP/WordPress developer jobs.
