How to become an AWS CloudWatch engineer ?
Amazon CloudWatch provides reliable, scalable, and flexible monitoring for your AWS resources and applications. It enables you to monitor applications, end-user experience, compute, and storage resources in a unified view across both AWS and on-premises workloads. You can capture application performance and unanticipated system behavior using alarms that monitor individual thresholds or combinations of thresholds to take automated action (scale up or down, stop an instance, submit a ticket).
CloudWatch gives you actionable insight in real-time into the containerized applications and microservices that make up each of your systems. With one-second visibility into the usage of hardware, virtual machines, and clouds, you can optimize the resources consumed on these infrastructure services to maximize application productivity and performance, while minimizing latency.
What is the scope in AWS CloudWatch engineering?
AWS CloudWatch comes with several components, including:
Synchronize data with the cloud, manage distributed data, and process subscriptions and messages with the Data Storage App
Analytics monitors user sessions and reports on their activity. Configure custom attributes and examine the conversion funnel
Handle push notification campaigns and communicate with users via a variety of channels, including text and push
Authentication Gain access to ready-to-use workflows such as multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, and forgotten passwords
AWS CloudWatch is useful for people who don't want to build back-ends and other components from scratch. The CloudWatch component makes it easy to set up building blocks for your app without much effort, saving time and money. AWS CloudWatch is just one example of a cloud-based tool available for companies to easily manage the innovation process. There are many more tools, with more being developed each day. Given the popularity of AWS cloudwatch, it is no wonder that there is high demand for AWS CloudWatch engineers.
However, hiring the best AWS CloudWatch engineers is difficult because thousands of companies compete for a small pool of top AWS CloudWatch programmers. Because of the scarcity of qualified developers, hiring quality developers is an expensive and time-consuming endeavour.
What are the roles and responsibilities of an AWS CloudWatch engineer?
An AWS CloudWatch engineer is a member of a highly skilled team who designs, builds, and operates AWS cloud infrastructures that are hosted on behalf of third parties. These infrastructures include production, test, and development environments large or small as needed. AWS engineers adhere to the principles of continuous deployment, application delivery service, security best practices, on-call rotational workload, and incident management.
The AWS CloudWatch component makes it easy to set up monitoring and alerting capabilities with the AWS Management Console or command line tools. You can monitor resource level, performance metrics such as CPU, memory, and network utilization, tag components of your applications to quickly monitor them in the console, view logs for troubleshooting, or putting together reports of your monitoring data. You can also set up alerts based on ranges of values for resources and settings monitored by CloudWatch so that you can be notified when a component starts behaving incorrectly or some other undesirable event occurs.
AWS CloudWatch engineers handle various responsibilities such as:
- Build, structure, and maintain web applications
- Create back-end components as well as user interfaces
- Oversee the configuration of all production systems
- Track in-app metrics by monitoring web-based analytics
- Manage server-based technologies' CI/CD pipelines
- Work with cross-functional teams to create scalable applications
- Use best-in-class cloud security solutions to ensure software security
- Keep up to date on new technological developments in order to find the best solutions
- Troubleshoot issues across multiple platforms and application domains
- Ensure that your solutions are high-performing and scalable

Skills required to become an AWS CloudWatch engineer
The first step is to start learning the fundamental skills that can get you high-paying AWS CloudWatch engineer jobs. Here is what you need to know!
1. Experience integrating third-party tools
From the very first tool to the more advanced ones, CloudWatch engineers are responsible for configuring and managing all basic cloud services. One of the most critical skills for AWS CloudWatch developers is the ability to integrate third-party tools to provide additional functionality. Some notable AWS third-party tools include Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, and SaltStack.
2. Knowledge of tools and technologies
Software development processes use new tools and technologies. Therefore, companies are looking to Hire AWS CloudWatch engineers who know about the latest and greatest tools that help generate new ideas and welcome new challenges. Code pipeline, AWS CLI, AWS Cloud9, are some such tools.
3. Knowledge of databases
The ability to manage and debug database queries in a cloud environment requires unique skills. As most modern applications rely on databases to store and retrieve data, the developers companies hire must understand how the database works and also the query language that is used to manipulate data. It is essential and invaluable in advancing cloud computing. So, if you are applying for remote AWS CloudWatch engineer jobs, ensure to have a knowledge of databases beforehand.
4. Ability to manage Elastic Computing
A skilled CloudWatch developer, who has the ability to learn and use new tools, must be constantly learning and using new technologies. They must be able to write code that adheres to high standards of code quality. Skills such as high-performance computing, in-depth object-oriented programming knowledge, natural computer science approaches, and relational database management are needed. They should also have a thorough understanding of enterprise architecture design. For example, they need to know how to design fault-tolerance procedures for failure scenarios.
Developers capable of building an application on the CloudWatch service should also have experience with other AWS services. Chief among these is the EBS encryption service, the successor to S3 Encryption and Glacier Compression. Although EBS Volume Encryption does not cover all versions of AWS, it does add a measure of security for data stored in Amazon EBS volumes and snapshots.
5. Knowledge of Git, SVN, and Mercurial
In the world of software development, version control tools are a requirement. As it relates to open source projects (or even closed source projects), many developers choose to use such utilities. There are many different versions of control systems out there. Different version control systems have different features and each developer should determine which version control system is best for them.
6. Knowledge of networking
AWS CloudWatch engineers are talented network engineers with the skills to deploy and operate large IP networks. Developing network solutions can be complex, and AWS CloudWatch engineers should be experts at designing and managing public, private, and hybrid IP networks that include AWS services such as Direct Connect networking, VPCs, and VEtNics. In addition, they must also have the expertise to transit traffic across public or private networks, or use AWS services such as SSL offload to secure traffic when it enters the Amazon Cloud.
