Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Leverage latest tools and techniques to design, develop and implement Java-based applications
  • Work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to determine application objectives, features, and functionality
  • Analyze the existing systems to maintain the availability, accessibility, security, and overall performance
  • Identify performance and efficiency gaps and suggest opportunities for architecture improvement
  • Accurately document the development process, architecture, and standard components for future reference
  • Troubleshoot by analyzing the issues, finding the root cause, and resolving them
  • Stay up-to-date with current trends and technology advancements

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Java developer (rare exceptions for highly skilled developers)
  • Strong understanding of OOP concepts, algorithms, and software design
  • Good understanding of JVM, JSP, servlets, multithreading, synchronization, memory management, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JQuery
  • Skilled at SQL, relational databases, and ORM technologies (Hibernate, JPA2)
  • Fluency in English for effective communication
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) with a daily 4 hour overlap with US time zones

Preferred skills

  • Sound knowledge of markup languages like XML and JSON
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and test-driven environment
  • Ability to find solutions to complex problems by collaborating with teams or working independently
  • Expert understanding of the entire SDLC
  • Team player with the ability to lead and initiate
