Job description

An emerging startup active in the FreightTech industry is looking for a Web Front-End Developer. The developer will report directly to the Lead Developer and CTO and utilize experience in building web-based applications to deliver meaningful solutions. The selected candidate is expected to have a working knowledge of responsive design and how to deliver high-value content and functionality to multiple devices via the web. This is a nice opportunity for those looking to participate actively in a startup environment with a growing-family culture. It requires a time overlap with the CST time zone.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Write clean, visually accurate, and production-worthy code that honors the designer's and product owner's vision 
  • Take into account technical constraints and edge cases
  • Convert high resolution production-ready visual layouts to code
  • Develop and execute against both short and long-term product milestones and roadmaps
  • Make effective tradeoffs between business impact, user experience, and a high-quality technical solution
  • Keep up-to-date with industry standards and emerging technologies, tools, and techniques
  • Collaborate with other team members through feedback, code reviews, and advancement of internal tools and processes 
  • Support internal Highway initiatives (e.g., contribute to marketing and sales collateral, etc.)

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a front-end developer
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks, primarily Vue.js, or willingness to learn a new framework
  • Flexibility when requirements, priorities, and schedules change in flight
  • Exceptional communication skills for tireless iteration and collaboration in a virtual work environment
  • Humility and openness to the evolving needs
  • Nice to have a working knowledge of any server-side language
  • Familiarity with data structures and algorithms
  • Proficiency with design tools, primarily Figma
