Job description

A NASDAQ-listed company that has developed an eCommerce platform evolving the used car industry through a technology-driven, hassle-free user experience, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality, testable, and maintainable code to demonstrate best practices. The company’s mission is to make car ownership and purchase simple and convenient for everyone. This position requires 6+ hours of overlap with the PST time zone. The company has managed to raise close to $505 mn in funding. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the tech stack and technical processes by collaborating with engineers across the organization and collaborating with Data Science and TechOps
  • Deliver high-quality testable, maintainable code to indicate best practices
  • In code reviews and architecture documents, provide technical leadership for engineers by providing supportive but candid feedback
  • Get key technology projects on the company's agenda
  • Participate in cross-team decisions that advance the technology stack and improve development velocity, quality, performance, and security
  • Participate in the decision to build versus buy
  • Engage in technical design and project planning, as well as lead critical project development

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • 5+ years building technically complex software for the web
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails and React or Python Django with an interest and aptitude to learn Ruby on Rails
  • Experience developing SPAs and server-side rendered web apps
  • Strong experience with databases like PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, etc.
  • Experience with deploying to AWS, GCP, and using CDNs
  • Experience with monitoring and instrumentation tech and vendors like Segment, New Relic, Datadog, Pingdom, and PagerDuty
  • Experience building and integrating with various APIs
  • Experience working in e-commerce is nice to have
  • Experience building a platform is a plus
  • Experience with TypeScript and GraphQL is preferable
  • Experience working at a startup is nice to have
  • Proficiency in English
