Job description

A leading startup building a flexible car ownership business valued at billions of dollars is looking for a Senior Software Engineer. The engineer will work on a specific project to the company’s needs with opportunities to switch projects as the business evolves. The company is sourcing candidates who display good qualities and great enthusiasm to take on new problems across the full-stack as the technology advances. The selected engineer will report to the Director of Engineering and demonstrate a passion to help build an outstanding automotive FinTech platform that scales. This role requires a time overlap with the Pacific time zone.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the web and mobile engineers to build back-end functionalities that improve consumer experiences
  • Ideate with the team to conceptualize and build new features
  • Design, build and maintain APIs, services, and systems critical to the consumer experience
  • Point out project risks, propose and build a team consensus around other project options
  • Be responsible for the delivery of high-quality results by applying engineering and QA best practices
  • Aid the customer support team in triaging and resolving production issues
  • Enhance and elevate engineering standards, tooling, and processes
  • Mentor other engineers within the team

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of professional experience with Python
  • Strong technical background
  • Solid Python experience building APIs and back-end systems 
  • Hands-on experience with ORMs (e.g., SQLAlchemy) automated testing (unit, functional, and integration tests) on a cloud platform (e.g., AWS)
  • Expertise at performing thorough and educational code reviews and architectural reviews
