Job description

A rapidly-growing company that is set to conquer the newly emerging frontier of freely available scientific information through open, global collaboration and publishing, is looking for a Senior Web Front-End Engineer. The developer must have a keen sense for subtle details and a strong desire to build beautiful user-facing products. The company is leveraging the power of technology to make it easy for scientists to discover, publish, peer review, and collaborate on science at a global scale This will be a long-term, full-time role that requires some overlap with the EST time zone.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to design and develop fluid and intuitive front-ends of applications
  • Collaborate with product managers and designing and engineering teams to develop high-quality products
  • Interact with clients’ technical leadership to understand the requirements and execute them
  • Utilize different systems and technologies for providing end-to-end solutions
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest and greatest in the space
  • Collaborate and engage with non-engineering stakeholders

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 4+ years of relevant experience as a frontend developer
  • Must have at least 4 years of experience working with languages like JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Knowledge of utilizing resources like Git and React
  • Capable of working with technologies like Next.js, GCP, Typescript, and GraphQL
  • Thorough knowledge of developing, scaling, and maintaining REST/RESTful APIs
  • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals, and passion for building high quality and scalable software
  • Extensive experience building web applications
  • Demonstrable experience with Webpack, Rollup, Grunt, Browserify, and npm
  • Solid understanding of CSS processors like PostCSS, Saas, and Less
  • In-depth knowledge of modern JavaScript libraries like Next.js, React, Redux, and StencilJS
  • Fluency in English to communicate with team members and other stakeholders
  • Expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience
  • Experience working in a cross-functional Scrum team
  • Experience using Git and related tools like GitLab, GitHub, and Bitbucket is desirable
  • Familiarity with server-side development using NodeJS, PHP, or Python is nice to have
