Job description

A US-based company on a mission to provide climate and sustainability-focused e-commerce services that will advise customers on how to reduce their carbon footprints is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer. The selected candidate will be providing feedback, solutions, and suggestions for software improvements. By assisting brands in calculating the carbon impact of an online transaction in real-time, the company is providing a sustainable shopping experience for them. It has managed to raise $2.8mn+ during their Seed round of funding. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and automate software validation tests for cloud architecture systems by configuring test environments and creating test cases/scenarios/usage cases
  • Carry out these scenarios using existing and in-development software
  • Ascertain that the product is tested using appropriate testing methodologies for the context (unit vs. integration vs. end to end, API vs. UI), reducing unnecessary test cases, intermittent failures, and execution time
  • Utilize previous experience with technologies to assist in achieving the Global Scale
  • Assist in driving quality processes such as bug triaging, release decisions, and feature completion criteria
  • Identify and record test cases for performance and scalability issues in Python-specific containerization libraries and software that generates infrastructure in cloud environments
  • To enable cross-functional software development teams, use working knowledge of software developer and IT operations (DevOps) systems
  • Issues that arise during software testing should be monitored and resolved
  • Investigate test failures by narrowing down and reproducing product issues, isolating the root cause, documenting in established bug reporting tools, and determining the best course of action
  • Contribute to the expansion of Python-specific containerization libraries in cloud environments
  • Work as an action-oriented, data-driven individual to build scalable processes
  • Pay close attention to detail when developing a new infrastructure

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 4+ years of relevant experience as a cloud engineer
  • 4+ years of AWS management and support experience is a must
  • Strong IaaC experience is a must
  • Experience working with Shopify is nice to have
  • Experience with PyTorch or at least another major deep learning framework such as TensorFlow, MXNet is preferred
  • Knowledge of data science tools including Python scripting, NumPy, Scipy, Matplotlib, Scikit-learn, Jupiter notebooks, bash scripting, and Linux environment is nice to have
  • Experience with PHP is preferred
  • Familiarity with building out large scale APIs and developing their infrastructure is a huge bonus
  • Ability to take charge and solve complex problems in a cloud-native environment quickly and efficiently
  • Excellent documentation, diagramming, and communication abilities
