Job description

A fast-growing software company offering a content management system that enables public, private, and charter schools to easily manage and update their website is looking for a Platform Engineer. The candidate will work as an Engineering Tech Lead and help in scaling the product development efforts on the platform. The company has gained the trust of thousands of customers, with the CMS powering up to 4,300 school and district websites. This is a great opportunity to join a Private Equity and Venture Capital-backed organization and grow rapidly.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and implement new front-end and backend features
  • Collaborate across teams with Tech Leads and DevOps engineers to architect and design new technical solutions
  • Lead the team and set examples through hands-on mentoring
  • Work closely with the Product Managers to deliver new customer-facing product features
  • Take operational responsibility and own components that are built

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 6 years experience with a server-side programming language (Java, Node.js, Python, Golang)
  • 6+ years of JavaScript programming experience, testing, and debugging techniques, including HTML/CSS
  • 3+ years of experience working as a team lead 
  • Experience working with relational databases (MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB)
  • Experience with front-end JS frameworks (React/Angular) and the Linux command line 
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Experience developing with Java 8+, Kotlin, and Spring is nice to have 
  • Experience with Java Server Pages (JSP) and web application servers (Apache Tomcat) is a bonus
  • Experience with Java build tools (Gradle/Maven/Ant) and unit testing (JUnit, Mocha) 
  • Experience with Node.js and related technologies is nice to have
  • Familiarity with the AWS toolset (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, S3, ECS, CloudFront) is preferred
  • Familiarity with designing and building RESTful APIs 
  • Prior experience with scripting languages (Perl/Python/Bash) is preferred
  • Proficiency in other technologies such as ES6, TypeScript, Git, GraphQL, Docker, Memcache, Redis, ElasticSearch, Vagrant, Jenkins is a bonus
