Job description

A leading technology company specializing in buying and selling accessories from top brands like Hermes, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci is looking for a PHP Software Engineer. As an engineer, you will design, develop and operate services and applications that facilitate the internal systems. The company operates as a unique apparel brand to provide access to the world's most coveted brands by dissolving the walls of traditional luxury. The candidate will help advance efforts in giving offers and authenticating items to provide customers and employees with better experiences.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be comfortable at creating secure and scalable APIs for CRUD interfaces and user-facing applications using Oauth, JWT, and similar authentication techniques
  • Architect and develop service-oriented applications
  • Transfer the current monolithic application into smaller, faster components
  • Learn quickly and adapt to changing requirements in a dynamic setting
  • Work in a team, review others code, build the culture, and set standards for coding practices

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience working with PHP
  • Experience in the Laravel framework ecosystem
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals and proficiency in architecture, OOP, and system design
  • 2+ years of experience in a JavaScript framework, preferably in Vue.js
  • Experience building cloud-based, distributed, resilient systems 
  • Sound ability to handle large and variable traffic volumes
  • Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Extensive expertise in web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, REST, and JSON
  • Experience with Lambdas and the Serverless framework
  • Experience with CI/CD: Git, GitHub, and Jenkins
  • Proficiency in Node.js or Python is a plus 
  • Experience with Indexes: Elasticsearch, Sphinx, and Solr
  • Conversant with Async message queue with Kafka\SQS\RabbitMQ
  • Understanding of Docker/AWS Services
  • Experience with Agile/Kanban methodologies and best practices
  • Excellent communication skills while working in a small team setting
  • Familiarity with Symfony, Zend, and Phalcon
  • Ability to write ad-hoc SQL queries
  • Expertise in Azure functions, Lambda, EC2, ECS, SQS, and SNS
  • Good experience in designing and writing APIs; RESTful, event-driven, and microservices
  • Knowledge of Caching, Error Handling, and Monitoring 
  • Understanding of New Relic, Sentry, Bugsnag, Datadog, Grafana, OpsGenie, and anything with Logging
  • Competency in performing Unit tests, functional tests, API tests, and performance testing
  • Track record of working in an Agile environment, engaging in Sprints and sound business practices
  • Experience with GitHub Pull Requests, open sources packages, and code reviews
