Job description

A rapidly-growing company building an ecosystem of financial services and benefits to improve business operations and employees' work, is looking for a Full-Stack Back-End-Heavy Developer. The selected candidate will become a highly autonomous member of the team and own multiple initiatives throughout the year, building, maintaining, and fixing features end to end. The company's technology helps businesses reduce the time spent on calculations so that more energy and effort can be channeled to building strategy and culture. They have raised funding worth more than $3 mn during their Seed round. This will be a nice opportunity to collaborate with teams to build high-quality products.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with product and delivery leads to groom, break down and prioritize the backlog
  • Collaborate with the Engineering and QA leads to ensure that there are no blockages and utilize the right tools and assurance to succeed
  • Build new APIs, debug and maintain existing ones 
  • Build automations for common manual fixes 
  • Improve reporting functions that have become outdated 
  • Crush a backlog of known issues that are most impactful to customers
  • Build and maintain user interfaces for the browser
  • Solve business problems with technology
  • Come up with practical, efficient, and permanent solutions for the most complex software issues 
  • Contribute to an existing front-end codebase
  • Work with a team of UX/UI designers to execute user research and detailed UI designs
  • Assist in task planning, estimation, and scheduling
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and management to address their issues
  • Coach and mentor, other engineers, review their code and level them up to match the industry standards
  • Explore options, develop PoCs, write documentation, identify and mitigate technical risk
  • Cut down on complexities, improve maintainability and adopt best practices
  • Work actively to meet the technical needs of the company as they move to a microservices architecture

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 6+ years of relevant experience as a full-stack or back-end developer
  • In-depth knowledge of Ruby on Rails and its intricacies
  • Proficient knowledge of SQL, JavaScript, and Typescript
  • Prior experience building APIs on REST with best practices in mind
  • Comfortable working with databases, APIs, worker process, cache store, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
