Job description

An NYSE-listed company that is revolutionizing the workspace industry by providing businesses and employees with completely furnished offices and customizable subscription plans, is looking for a Full-Stack Back-End-Heavy Software Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for the entire Full-Stack web development of the platform, from conception to deployment. The company’s unique services ensure that customers across the world have access to comfortable office spaces that fit every hybrid approach. The company has successfully raised more than $20.9bn in funding so far. This will be a full-time position that reports directly to the Engineering Manager. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of the current team's codebase and improve on it
  • Ensure that the WordPress websites can incorporate third-party APIs and services
  • Take ownership of the web application's performance, speed, and scalability optimization
  • Debug and troubleshoot existing web apps' problems
  • Thrive in an expanding, flexible team, and be willing to pitch in when needed
  • Recognize team growth and peer learning as important
  • Work independently but also collaborate well 
  • Prosper in a dynamic atmosphere with a variety of projects
  • Attain a great deal of fulfillment from developing products that help people
  • Give pertinent stakeholders, such as product managers, marketers, and other team members, technical support and direction
  • Ensure that code and technical requirements are recorded for future use

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a back-end or web development engineer
  • 5+ years of full-stack development experience in B2B or B2C applications
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience with web development and software engineering
  • Extensive experience working with PHP, MySQL, Laravel, and WordPress
  • Demonstrable knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Strong understanding and experience with React.js, Next.js, and Node.js
  • Ability to convert designs into CSS that would provide responsive and mobile-first web design
  • Strong grasp of version control systems (such as Git) and web standards and best practices
  • In-depth knowledge of WordPress SEO best practices
  • Proficient experience using an ORM to write effective SQL queries
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with data consolidation from several sources.
  • Prior experience working with others to solve problems and examine code
  • Strong familiarity with legacy codebase refactoring
  • Nice to have some experience with CI/CD tools like Circle CI or similar 
  • Ideal to have some working knowledge of prominent AWS services like EC2, API Gateway, Lambda, Cloudfront, S3, etc.
  • Prior TypeScript experience, particularly migration from ES6 JavaScript is preferred
  • Nice to have some Swift and/or Kotlin experience
  • Japanese fluency is preferred
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision or documentation
  • Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written
