Job description

A U.S.-based company that provides advanced healthcare and insurance options to individuals and organizations, is looking for a Cloud Engineer. The selected engineer will take ownership of and be responsible for all aspects of the Cloud platform implementation. The NYSE-listed company provides businesses and individuals with supplementary disability insurance to provide healthcare coverage that would potentially cover unexpected healthcare costs and provide a safety net that general health insurance won’t. This is a full-time opportunity that requires a 4-6 hour sync with the EST time zone.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that cloud infrastructures adhere to current standards and collaborate with consuming teams to update as necessary
  • Create automation for the standardized use by project teams of Cloud environments and architectural design patterns
  • Develop and maintain playbooks and runbooks for operating support of cloud environments
  • Take part in troubleshooting sessions, which may involve collaborating with business teams, examining logs and data, submitting service requests to CSPs, coordinating with vendors, partners, and CSP support, and advancing problem resolution
  • Display a desire to automate and streamline repetitive operations
  • To guarantee that dependable and efficient design patterns are used, architectural designs for applications are reviewed
  • Analyze the operational characteristics and maintainability of new Cloud-native services in relation to the most recent standards and industry/CSP best practices
  • Establish and monitor operational metrics for dimensions of production efficiency, dependability, scalability, and availability
  • Conducting research, producing knowledge pieces, and taking part in discussion groups, contribute to the team's continual improvement
  • Work constantly to enhance the organization's quality and create cost-effective cloud environments
  • Stay up to date on technology breakthroughs and share pertinent knowledge to promote teamwork
  • Create and keep up with the documentation needed for the cloud platform integration

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a Cloud platform engineer
  • Extensive Cloud Architecture experience, including AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Prolific experience working with programming/scripting technologies like Python, PowerShell, Ruby, Java, and JavaScript
  • Must be AWS Certified - at least Associate Architect for Cloud Engineering team, while should be a Cloud Developer/Associate Architect to join the Automation/DevOps team
  • Demonstrable experience working on Configuration Management software (Chef, Ansible, Puppet, and SaltStack)
  • In-depth understanding and experience of AWS Lambda with Bot3 API and AWS Cloud Formation
  • Prolific knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code technologies, such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and CDK
  • Familiarity with running and scaling distributed software systems, like load balancing, high availability, systems monitoring, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with structured text like JSON, YAML, and XML
  • Demonstrable experience in application production support
  • Strong knowledge of networking and network-related structures
  • Extensive experience working with Linux, Unix, and Windows operating systems internals and administration
  • Proficient experience writing Python-based API calls to AWS resources
  • Nice to have some knowledge of IaC coding
  • Prior Configuration Management experience with Chef, Ansible, Puppet, and SaltStack is desirable
  • Readiness to participate in a culture of continuous improvement
  • Capacity to multitask and rapidly adjust to changing priorities
  • Ability and willingness to occasionally work outside of regular hours
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent English and Japanese communication skills
