Job description

A fast-paced startup reimagining how people travel by helping them travel better and redeem maximum rewards points, is looking for a Back-End Engineer. The engineer will assist in developing the systems and algorithms that power the company's services, as well as the scaling and continual improvement of the engineering practices. The company's advanced technology helps users gain access to their powerful search engine and uncover rare flights and itineraries. This is a nice opportunity for developers to showcase their talents and expand their skill sets.

Job Responsibilities:

Interact directly with product owners to help turn use cases into solid engineering solutions
Collaborate with other engineers to identify and solve challenging problems
Promote sound engineering practices, drive technical excellence and strategy
Contribute to design discussions with key stakeholders at various levels
Participate in the full development life cycle, including design, coding, testing, and production release
Be a crafts individual and encourage code craftsmanship across the team
Deliver code in an agile team environment
Drive innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development
Architect, design, and develop back-end systems with the high performance, scalability, and availability requirements
Participate in code reviews to drive the team to the highest standards for Next and Java web applications

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a back-end engineer
Exceptional coding skills, preferably in Next, Node, and Java
Experience architecting, implementing, and operating large-scale, highly available applications in an AWS cloud environment
Extensive experience with Next.js, Vercel, Node.js, Java, Docker, Nginx, and PostgreSQL
Knowledge of JavaScript, Tailwind, React, Angular, Gitlab, Github, Firebase, Gradle, and Jib
Prior experience working with Microservices, REST APIs, Figma, Storybook, Shortcut, Slack, and Google Workspace
Familiarity with AWS - EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, and IAM
Prior experience working in Linux, Windows, and Mac environments
Ability to ship high-quality code quickly and efficiently
Well experienced in developing and executing automated unit, functional, and integration tests
Familiar with optimizing database structure and queries for growth
Passionate about technology and developing robust, scalable, state of the art software systems
