Job description

A rapidly-growing company that assists in monitoring various data sources for events and narratives is looking for a  Back-End Developer. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing data science and Natural Language Processing (NLP) systems that deliver insights across a wide range of data formats. The company draws links between important events, supply networks, and the manufacturing of commodities to assist its clients in understanding the 2nd order economic effects of global events.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Determine the scope, design, and implementation of cloud data infrastructure, APIs, and services
  • Create data science and NLP systems that provide insights across a variety of data types, such as web crawls, API feeds, and static risk indicators
  • Hide complexity from consumers using simple yet effective abstractions
  • Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product managers to build strong and comprehensive risk monitoring and risk due diligence interfaces
  • Have a say in the technological direction of next-generation platforms

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a software developer
  • 4+ years experience in backend engineering
  • Fluency in Python and Django is a plus
  • Knowledge of GCP, Data Engineering, and Machine Learning is nice to have
  • An interest in political science, risk management, or world affairs is a plus
  • In everything you create, keep the user in mind
  • Make reusable code libraries
  • Working at an early-stage business and understanding what it takes to launch enterprise-grade software
  • Confidence in successfully completing projects requiring a wide range of technology and systems
  • The ability to develop holistically, from specifications and documentation to implementation, testing, deployment, and impact measurement
  • Ability to balance speed, complexity, and scope to meet the demands of users
  • Proficiency in English
