Job description
Job responsibilities
- Participate in developing and validating complex SQL scripts
- Define and track QA metrics including defects, defect counts, test results, and test status
- Assist QA team to prepare defect reports, test summary reports, and defect metrics
- Collaborate with both business and the development teams to ensure efficient defect tracking and closure
- Work closely with the project teams and management to continue daily testing activities like test execution progress, defect summary and burn-down charts, etc.
- Guide in database set-up for QA environment and work with DBAs to assign privileges
- Communicate through daily triage calls with testing and development teams to facilitate progress review, defect discussion, issue resolutions, etc.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as ETL developer or tester (rare exceptions for highly skilled developers)
- Hands-on experience in developing test plan and test strategy documents
- Experience with databases like SQL Server, My SQL, Mongo DB, and MSBI tools like SSIS
- Strong knowledge of various testing cycles, release activities, and team handling skills
- Experience in analyzing transformations from DMS mapping documents and creating SQL scripts
- Experience in BI report testing using Business Objects, Cognos, Power BI
- Solid understanding of ETL tools like Informatica, SSIS, Talend, Pentaho, etc.
- Fluency in English for effortless collaboration
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) with a daily 4 hour overlap with US time zones
Preferred skills
- Experience in preparing Effort Estimations
- Understanding of Hadoop ecosystem
- Ability to test Big Data systems with Hive or HBase
- Knowledge of tracking defects in QC / ALM
- Experience in agile software development methodologies
- Great problem-solving skills and attention to detail
