Job description

A US-based firm that seeks to redefine life-saving medical devices is looking for a Software Architect. The architect will be required to technically lead the software engineering team in building a service-oriented data platform. The company has managed to raise $145.6 mn in funding so far and is backed by investors like Google Ventures and Third Rock Ventures. The firm has revolutionized the healthtech industry with their approach of combining user-centric design, a rigorous approach to medical device development and the integration and application of data science with machine learning. Job Responsibilities:

  • Optimize cloud solutions for receiving, processing, and sorting essential information gathered from client end resources like mobiles, desktops, and web apps
  • Develop flexible architectures to support multiple data sources - devices, wearables, and medical data systems
  • Work closely with algorithm and data sciences team to fine-tune data architecture for transformation, storage, and interfaces to support data processing and machine learning algorithms
  • Identify and eliminate technical risks understanding core use cases in pre-development under design control
  • Lead different teams through different design requirements necessary for defined architecture
  • Oversee project execution and ensure architecture and detailed design
  • Actively participate in the implementation of a software ecosystem
  • Lead development projects to ensure products meet business requirements and maintain best practices
  • Work closely on technical documentation of software architecture and design specifications
  • Guide and mentor the software engineering team

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering
  • 3+ years experience working as a tech lead or handling projects based on cloud services or data platforms
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud-based services like Azure and AWS and their best practices
  • Knowledge of use case analysis in defining service-oriented architectures based on AWS or Azure
  • Previous experience of leading software development projects - architecture, design, and deployment while staying true to project requirements
  • Well be versed with software development with components like services deployment and cloud hosting using Python, Java, and/or C#
  • Deep understanding of REST, SOAP, and databases like SQL and NoSQL and related services
  • Good to have experience in system design methodology using iDesign
  • Ability to create time series using data from multiple resources allowing transformation and processing chains
  • Experience data streaming technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and ML services like AWS SageMaker will be an added bonus
  • Must have experience in cross-functional development of hardware and software integrated products for quality assurance, electrical and mechanical engineering, marketing, and program management.
  • Familiarity with medical devices in similarly regulated environments and medical systems like EMR using HL7 FHIR standards
  • Fluency in English and exceptional written and communication skills
