Job description

A blockchain trading and investment platform that is designing, building, and running a fast and secure trading platform, is looking for a Senior Back-End Engineer. The engineer will be mainly in charge of the technical role, focusing on building a new trading engine. The trading platform consists of several mission-critical, low latency systems, and services that allow users to place orders, match and settle trades, etc. This will be a full-time position and requires 4+ hours overlap with the AEST time zone. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Navigate and deal with ambiguity 
  • Maintain the highest standards and make a good judgment on compromises 
  • Rely on data and metrics to demonstrate improvements in a system 
  • Write low latency financial software that will process hundreds of millions of orders per day 
  • Build high-performance REST APIs and WebSocket applications that power the front-end apps as well as algorithmic traders 
  • Assist a small team of engineers in charge of building and running the training platform 
  • Work to solve complex and challenging problems related to low latency, distributed systems, and high-performance computing 
  • Collaborate with engineers, customers, and the leadership to break down high-level vision and requirements into actionable plans and smaller pieces
  • Constantly look for ways to simplify systems and architecture 
  • Prepare to learn quickly and have a bias for action to move fast 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 7+ years of relevant experience as a back-end engineer
  • Extensive programming experience with Java and related tooling/technologies 
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of distributed systems, low latency systems, high-performance computing, and highly available systems 
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to dive deep when needed
  • Experience with high messaging systems 
  • Experience building trading systems and trade matching engines 
  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design of systems 
  • Experience with infrastructure e.g., AWS
