Job description

A fast-growing firm that has developed an all-in-one tax and accounting app to help users reduce their tax strain is looking for a Senior Back-End Developer. The selected candidate will be working closely with the tech lead, project manager, and product team to shape new functionality while taking responsibility for its development. The company helps simplify financial life, measure and track monetary health, and classify users' expenses. The selected candidate will join a well-funded, US-based startup and explore new ways to improve the systems and code.

  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with tech leaders, project manager, and product team to design and develop new functionality
  • Devise ways to improve the performance and reliability of existing systems and improve the efficiency of codes in general
  • Micromanage and develop new features
  • Handle the back-end integration services and contribute to increasing and maintaining existing application services API
  • Work with a small, tight-knit team and improve on the products
  • Promote continuous improvement in the codebase to enhance stability and performance 
  • Take care of error handling and know when to refactor
  • Assist the operations team in fixing bugs and offering support to resolve technical issues
  • Provide training, mentorship, and support to other members of the team
  • Keep developing knowledge about the latest technologies

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 4+ years of relevant experience as a back-end developer
  • Expertise in working with languages like PHP and Laravel
  • Thorough knowledge of object-oriented PHP and Laravel 8 PHP Framework
  • Ability to work with SQL schema design, SOLID principles, and REST API design
  • Work with a creative and problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to communicate with different teams and stakeholders with confidence
  • Strong GitHub experience and experience collaborating on development projects
  • Ability to embrace continuous learning as an essential part of your modern development skills
  • Knowledge of writing unit tests, issue identification, and resolution in support of the release
  • Fluent English speaking and writing skills
