Job description

A well-established next-generation consumer products company with a global footprint is looking for a Principal Data Scientist. The selected candidate will be the center of data-driven decision-making and applied research for the company. The platform specializes in quickly analyzing e-commerce firms, extending the brand, and offering long-term earnouts as the business expands. The company has managed to raise funding worth more than $3 bn. This role requires a significant time overlap with the EST timezone.  

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead the entire Data Science lifecycle, from ideation to prototyping, testing, deployment, and evaluation of the overall business impact
  • Determine the areas of foundational research that will unite multiple business enterprises
  • Work with the executive team to develop a Data Science strategy
  • Develop team best practices and take responsibility for the codebase and workflows' quality
  • Utilize machine learning and advanced data analysis techniques to create quantitative models
  • Lead data-driven decision-making for business stakeholders and improve the external stakeholders' experience
  • Establish technological ambitions and a data science strategy to achieve some ambitious goals
  • Develop large-scale AI systems for locating and acquiring new e-commerce targets
  • Create pricing elasticity models for products so that the organization can estimate sales and demand
  • Understand and enhance the performance of Amazon's black-box algorithm across the product portfolio
  • Build a marketing and creative experimentation framework to drive the advertising budget and targeting strategy
  • Be a technical leader and drive strategic initiatives for the team by mentoring engineers
  • Build a data-centric culture by delivering presentations to high-level business leaders that tell coherent, logical stories using data
  • Identify and own innovative research and engineering initiatives that have the potential to change the game

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 12+ years of experience in data science or related roles
  • 3+ years experience as a data science, ML, analytics, or engineering technical lead
  •  Advanced knowledge of a modern data science platform such as Pandas/Jupyter or R/Rstudio
  • Strong background in quantitative research and applied statistical methods, such as causal inference, forecasting, stochastic modeling, Bayesian methodologies, or advanced experiment design
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Prior business relationship-building experience 
  • Ability to synthesize data and develop useful conceptual models, and establish alignment and execution
