Job description

A US-based film collective dedicated to highlighting arts created by women, people of color, and black artists, is looking for a Full-Stack Engineer. The developer will work directly with the PM and CTO to build and evolve the technology landscape for the company. The non-profit company aims to create a world where cinema fully represents the rich cultures, various ideas, and distinct perspectives of the communities around the world, positively promoting racial and social justice. This will be a full-time, high-impact role and an exciting opportunity for developers to work in a mission-driven organization.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Make considerations with a focus on business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation
  • Own features across the entire stack, including definition, design, and development and execute against both short and long-term roadmaps
  • Take complete ownership of critical components of the platform
  • Build quality software solutions based on business need and supported technology architecture
  • Contribute to the development activities, work on new solutions and refining current ones
  • Support and coach new and experienced software developers
  • Demonstrate success in software project delivery, driving technical efforts while leveraging on several development tools and technologies
  • Participate end-to-end in the product life cycle: requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, support, and maintenance
  • Develop loosely coupled solutions that are scalable, testable, modularized, and reusable
  • Appropriately manage priorities, dependencies, scope, dates, and deliverables
  • Represent a long-term perspective on the technical landscape
  • Design and create new documentation, doc standards, technical procedures, user guides, and operational workflows
  • Spearhead the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across multiple architectural environments

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a full-stack engineer
  • 5+ year track record of building large scale, user-facing websites, and applications
  • Advanced cloud distributed knowledge, both conceptual and hands-on implementation
  • Demonstrable skills in synchronous and asynchronous processing of highly available and resilient applications
  • Product knowledge and production experience developing scalable software with MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Typescript, React, and PostgreSQL
  • Prior working knowledge of an ORM such as Mongoose or Prisma is nice to have
  • Comfortable working in a containerized environment using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Passionate about making an impact through technology
