Job description

A US-based company that is providing reliable, accessible abortion care through telemedicine, is looking for a founding Full-stack Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for scaling the company’s MVP into a world-class telemedicine platform. The company is revolutionizing access to this common yet underserved need by providing direct delivery of the abortion pill through a safe and supportive telemedicine platform. The company has managed to raise $2.2mn in funding so far and they seek to build a community that celebrates and validates individual experiences, and to normalize and prioritize access to essential healthcare. The selected candidate must be comfortable with the subject matter (abortion). This role requires 6+ hours of overlap with PST.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Solve complex issues efficiently and come up with innovative solutions
  • Design, evaluate and implement solutions end-to-end 
  • Mentor other engineers in your team and help them to strategize solutions to problems
  • Manage individual project requirements, priorities, and deliverables in a timely manner     
  • Display leadership qualities with an ability to take ownership of technical projects and processes   

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of relevant software engineering experience with at least 1 year of experience in managing a team
  • Extensive experience in web programming and frameworks, REST APIs, asynchronous processing in Ruby, Python, or JavaScript
  • Experience with modern SaaS build services (Codeship/CircleCI/Travis CI)
  • Must posses deep Git knowledge: GitHub, PR process, with an ability to explain what cherry-picking and squash are supposed to do
  • Comfortable in working as a full-stack engineering leader
  • Skilled at running an agile development process
  • Passionate about solving complex problems
  • Ability to define and articulate trade offs in functionality, resources, and speed. i.e. the cost of each feature
