Job description

A well-established organization that offers global monitoring and evaluation services to increase evidence-based decision-making for better social impact programming is looking for a WordPress Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for implementing pixel-perfect responsive web builds based on designs provided by the existing team. Advanced data analytics, independent research and assessment, system design and development, along with monitoring are the company's areas of expertise in evaluating, informing, and strengthening programs and policies. This will be a full-time position.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement optimized and customizable WordPress sites, themes, plugins, and custom post types
  • Build page templates, widgets, content blocks, etc. based on developer-ready Adobe XD files
  • Write clean, scalable code using modern standards and libraries (HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, native JS-ES6)
  • Leverage the latest Gutenberg editor capabilities to create scalable WordPress editing experiences
  • Perform tasks related to WordPress environment installations, base configurations, and upgrades
  • Integrate with third-party RESTful APIs and micro-services
  • Design and manage the website back-end, including database and server integration

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer 
  • Extensive experience in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery and PHP(WordPress)
  • Solid understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript jQuery
  • Demonstrable experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
  • Prior experience designing and developing responsive design websites
  • Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
  • Ability to understand CSS changes and ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
  • Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
  • Comprehensive knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON & XML)
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial)
  • Strong understanding of PHP back-end development
  • Fluent in verbal and written English
