Job description

A U.S.-based company that specializes in data science and mobile technologies with an emphasis on financial services in emerging markets, is looking for a Senior Android Engineer. The engineer will be joining the growing team and helping with the upkeep and development of their financial services application. Through the company's innovative platform, people in emerging economies will be able to confidently pursue their financial goals, manage their daily requirements, and launch and grow small businesses. This will be a full-time, long-term position requiring 5+ hours of overlap with the CST time zone. The company has managed to secure more than $368mn in funding so far.

 

Job Responsibilities:


  • Effectively communicate with auxiliary teams including Product, Program, and Design
  • Work independently and make contributions to the front-end and back-end
  • Join a cross-functional task force and make a weekly contribution to some ticket-solving
  • Engage with cross-functional teams that are concentrated on fraud detection and their new payment laundry detection functionality
  • Offer features that prioritize stability, security, and polish while keeping the client in mind
  • Provide or improve cutting-edge features for sponsored nations both now and in the future
  • Provide direction when working with outside partners (tracking, payment/KYC, support, etc.)
  • Assess design documentation, examine code, and offer feedback on other technical teams' implementation choices
  • Participate in the present codebase's reorganization to achieve better abstraction and modularization
  • Achieve desired levels of code coverage by growing, maintaining, and adding automated tests


Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3-5+ years of relevant experience as an Android engineer
  • 3+ years of experience working with Android, Kotlin, and mobile development
  • Prolific experience with Gradle, JIRA, Git, Jenkins, and GitHub
  • Extensive experience working with Coroutines/Flow, Retrofit/OkHttp, Dagger, and architectural patterns MVVM
  • Prior experience developing clean design including repos and use cases, modularization, unit testing, and integration testing
  • Solid understanding of industry best practices such as MVVM, Coroutines/Flows, and Jetpack Compose
  • Prior experience engaging in the development and launch of large-scale consumer mobile applications
  • Extensive background using Dagger 2 to construct programs utilizing dependency injection
  • Strong grasp of MVVM, MVP, and Clean Architecture ideas in software architecture
  • Prior experience with RxJava and Coroutines, and frameworks for Reactive development
  • In-depth knowledge of the principles of developing REST APIs 
  • Strong problem-solving and communication abilities are necessary
  • Ability to work well autonomously without too much hand-holding
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
