Job description

An NYSE-listed company that offers and operates battery storage technologies to increase renewable energy generation is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing integrations with the Linux operating system. Through the world's largest network of distributed energy storage devices, the company helps to reduce energy costs and renewable intermittency. The company has managed to raise more than $500 mn in funding. 


Job Responsibilities:

  • Software application development (C++/Python) for embedded hardware devices on the IoT Platform
  • Innovation and integration with the Linux operating system
  • Software interface programming and testing to monitor and regulate energy storage systems, electricity metering, and other on-site energy-producing equipment
  • Based on product specifications, create and/or collaborate on architectural and technical concepts
  • In QA and Production settings, providing technical assistance for debugging devices and applications
  • Work both independently and collaboratively in an Agile software development environment

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • Experience with C++ and Python
  • Familiarity with Linux systems
  • Professional interest in energy and clean technologies
  • Experience with distributed message brokers (i.e., RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ, MQTT) is a plus
  • Knowledge of industrial/commercial communications protocols such as Modbus, BACNet, CANBus, etc. is nice to have
  • Experience developing and utilization of Docker containers is a plus
  • Experience writing APIs or RESTful endpoints is desirable
  • Familiarity with control systems engineering is nice to have
  • Expertise in designing and implementing microservices is desirable
  • Proficiency in English
