Data Engineer (Python, AWS services (kafka, hadoop, spark))

An emerging US-based start-up offering a full-service E-commerce platform is looking for a Data Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for creating data pipelines, streaming systems and data models relating to retail and E-commerce data sources. The company is a part of an industry leading brand, recognized as one of the most innovative marketing and advertising firms. This is an excellent opportunity for the selected candidate to work alongside several members of the team including the data scientists, data engineers, front-end developers, and designers to create the data processing and storage components of full-stack web applications.

Job Responsibilities:

• Create data pipelines, streaming systems & data models relating to retail data and e-commerce data sources
• Develop automated data pipelines for synchronizing and processing complex data streams
• Create data processing scripts for structured and unstructured data
• Work alongside data scientists, data engineers, front-end developers, and designers to create the data  processing and data storage components of full stack web applications 
• Create data models for relational databases 

Job Requirements:

• BS in Data Science, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomechanics,  Mechatronics, Biomedical or a similar technical discipline
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience as a data engineer 
• Experience with batch processing data and/or creating real-time analysis systems 
• Highly proficient in Python and other data processing languages (Scala, Java) and technologies (Kafka,  Hadoop, Spark)  
• Experience with using, building & maintaining machine-learning systems
• Proficiency using Git version control
• Strong understanding of affiliate and social media marketing
• Deep understanding of physical measurement principles, advanced statistical analysis and mathematical  modeling techniques
