Job description

A US-based company that is reinventing the insurance sector by improving value for consumers is looking for a Data Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for understanding the business challenges and opportunities related to service-related improvements. The company is building a comprehensive platform by partnering with the best insurance providers so that customers can trust and rely on their insurance coverage. The company has managed to raise more than $4.8mn in funding so far.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including automation of manual processes, optimization of data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
  • Assist the engineering team to thoroughly maintain the data infrastructure and reporting 
  • Work with the leadership to implement advanced analytical and machine learning toolkits throughout the product development life cycle 
  • Assemble large, complex data sets to meet new product requirements regularly 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a data engineer
  • Working SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases and query authoring 
  • Prior experience building and optimizing automated data reporting, data pipelines, architectures, and datasets 
  • Demonstrable experience working in a startup and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with AWS cloud services such as EC2, Redshift 
  • Nice to have experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) 
  • Familiarity with production deployment of machine learning algorithms 
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) is preferred 
  • Excellent English communication and teamwork skills
  • Great attention to detail
