Job description

A U.S.-based company that aims to lower the cost of cancer treatment by diverting avoidable costs is looking for a Data Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for applying data management guidelines and standards. The company's noble goal is to make cancer patients and their caregivers' lives better during their treatment and remission journeys by offering a digital experience. The company has managed to securely raise $31mn+ during their Series A round of funding. This will be a part-time position. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Recognize and handle the data requirements of all business stakeholders
  • Take charge of developing fault-tolerant, scalable, and high-availability data applications for cloud platforms to store and handle terabytes of data from upstream sources
  • Create and maintain systems to anonymize data and match identities in the Jasper analytical environment
  • Collaborate on solution requirements with information architects, platform architects, data scientists, and product management
  • Address the data requirements by working with the quantitative teams
  • Create products that make it possible to quickly and accurately extract knowledge from all collected health, device, and behavior data
  • Create and manage procedures for ingesting, transforming, enhancing, and storing a mix of structured (healthcare data, EHR, PROs, devices, etc.) and unstructured (notes, radiology images, etc.) data while ensuring data availability and quality
  • Adapt and convey difficult material, persuading and acting with prompt/actionable follow-up
  • Participate in the creation, implementation, and testing of products
  • Improve the process by making suggestions for data gathering, data consumption, and data storage improvements
  • By thoroughly analyzing intricate business processes, system processes, organizational standards, and procedures, you may resolve high impact issues and initiatives
  • Use BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Data Catalog, DataFlow, and GCP to oversee development, testing, and production implementation
  • Ensure that the databases and file systems upstream and downstream of the data warehouse are maintained
  • Ensure adequate data solutions to accomplish goals and identify and specify essential system and process improvements by working with multiple teams.
  • Perform personnel tasks for direct reports (such as recruiting, performance reviews, or mentoring)
  • Oversee agile data engineering teams to meet sprint and program increment goals
  • Participate in business partner engagement, relationship management, and cross-group planning among peers and technology leadership

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 4+ years of relevant experience as a data engineer or other relevant roles
  • Prior expertise as a Technical Lead for Data Warehouse, BI, and ETL
  • Extensive knowledge of analytics ideas including data warehousing, data lake, and ETL technologies
  • Comprehensive understanding of several mission-critical apps running on big data platforms
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced workplace with geographically dispersed teams Demonstrable familiarity with batch and real-time data pipelines in a DevOps setting Agile teams operating in various shifts
  • Track record of success in creating an analytical environment and the related tools
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent collaborative connections with business stakeholders at all levels
  • Prior employment in the healthcare industry
  • Extensive experience creating environments for or working with data-driven statistical models 
  • Experience dealing with payer claims data and provider EHR data
  • Exceptional expertise in working with sensitive data in a highly regulated environment 
  • Proven track record putting difficult and creative ideas into action
  • Papers and articles in the area of data engineering
  • Be the team captain, set an example, inspire, and encourage cooperation among teammates
  • Fluent in conversational and written English communication
