Job description

A US-based fintech startup that aims to help billions of people with viable credit infrastructure, is looking for an Android Engineer. The engineer will be providing general auxiliary development support and collaborating with different technical teams in order to deliver the needs of the business. The company uses machine learning algorithms to unlock untapped financial services to the emerging middle class worldwide. The company has managed to secure funding worth $2.9mn in its seed round. This is a great opportunity for the selected candidate to join an early-stage team and gain some first-hand experience in a startup environment.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work on developing advanced Android applications
  • Transform designs and wireframes into high-quality and efficient codes
  • Fine-tune developed applications to ensure performance, quality, and responsiveness 
  • Troubleshoot applications for bottlenecks and resolve identified bugs
  • Take ownership of your tasks by designing and building independently, and fixing problems as they arise
  • Provide general auxiliary development support to the team
  • Collaborate with different technical teams in order to deliver the required solutions
  • Interface with the operations team in order to resolve customer issues as they arise

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience as an Android engineer
  • Proficient with Kotlin and/or Java programming
  • Strong experience working with Android frameworks and Jetpack libraries
  • Well-versed with Android app design principles, and related SDKs
  • Working knowledge of Firebase services like Auth, Analytics, Cloud Messaging, and Crashlytics is preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of general mobile landscapes, trends, and architectures
  • Well-versed with source control systems like Git, merging, branching, pull requests, etc.
  • Must possess fluency in English communication
