How to become a senior android developer?

According to my understanding, being a "senior" requires the ability to work independently and the ability to mentor juniors. A Senior Android Developer is in charge of designing, developing, and maintaining applications for Android devices.

As experts with years of experience and dozens of apps in their portfolio, the Senior Android Developer should demonstrate exceptional programming skill and creativity. The remote senior android developer jobs would suit a candidate with remarkable aptitude, logical abilities, and algorithmic thinking.

What is the scope of Android development?

As you move along in your career, you may start taking on more responsibilities or notice that you've taken on a leadership role. A Senior Android Developer has to wear multiple hats as per their designation. With progressive experience, you could start out with a role such as Lead Developer, progress to a title such as Lead Technician, and then eventually end up with the title Development Manager.

However, the future holds great opportunities for senior android developers. A plethora of new Android-based products will be released, including Android for self-driving cars, Android Biometrix prompts, and Android cameras. Real-time applications that assist with payment or online purchases are becoming increasingly popular, extending Android's capabilities. Google is working on artificial intelligence to help phones and processes run more smoothly.

As a result, in the coming years, Android will have a lot of commercial prospects, and remote senior android developers will have a lot of options.

What are the roles and responsibilities of a senior android developer?

Senior android developers are programmers who are in charge of designing and developing advanced applications for the Android open-source operating system, which is used on smartphones and tablets. To define and design new features for their Android platform, these engineers must collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.

Here are some responsibilities of senior android developers that depict typical tasks they would accomplish in their positions.

  • Collaborate closely with customers to establish their mobility needs and to comprehend client success measures.
  • Develop and execute mobile solutions that suit the needs of clients while ensuring world-class user experiences.
  • Work collaboratively with members of a multi-functional team that includes Project Managers, Designers, Quality Assurance, and other professionals.
  • From concept to completion, you'll be in charge of mobile projects, including advising on critical architectural decisions.
  • Demonstrate experience developing software and leading development teams on a variety of mobile development projects.
  • Act as a domain specialist in a specific technology OR provide technical leadership and mentor junior team members.
  • Participate in the Agile/SCRUM Software Development Life Cycle
  • Reviewing code and architecture as a lead

When it comes to learning how to become a Senior Android Developer, picking the right major is crucial. You might find that previous work experience will assist you in becoming a Senior Android Developer. To become a senior android developer, you should have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of commercial experience in Android development. Experience requirements could vary according to the roles and responsibility.

When we looked at the most frequent majors for Senior Android Developers, we discovered that they mostly earned Bachelor's or Master's degrees. Associate Degrees and Diplomas are two more degrees that we frequently find on Senior Android Developer resumes. Skills required to become an senior android developer

I would advise most junior Android developers who already have a strong understanding of the life cycles of Activities and Fragments and know how to develop custom views to concentrate on the skills listed below.

1. Network Debugging

It's critical to know how to use at least one of the major network proxy tools, such as Charles, mitmproxy, or Stetho, because not all client-side problems are caused by front-end flaws, therefore you'll need a handy tool to figure out what's wrong.

2. Memory leaks and usage monitoring

Memory leak is one of the deadly flaws that should never be left in an app, thus (hopefully) all developers will be extremely cautious. To track memory leaks, some engineers would use Memory Analyzer, while others would use Leak Canary. However, memory utilization is also important; after all, no user wants to use an app that uses up all of their RAM. I'd recommend using Android Monitor to keep track of it, and if you notice that your app's RAM use increases when it's reopened, you should keep an eye on it and examine the cause before starting it.

3. Capacity to lower overdraw

Overdraw is challenging to solve since developers must figure out a suitable practice for balancing performance and effect needs expressed by clients or designers. However, we should be aware that there are a variety of measures available to determine the severity of the overdrawing. For example, you can use some of the tools available on your Android phone, such as AVD manager/Layout or even Stetho, to determine if the views on your screen have an impact on the performance of your app.

4. logcat

It's unprocessed, but it's useful. Knowing how to filter texts or show time on logcat printed logs is, in my opinion, a really vital ability.

5. Cache and database

You should know how to debug the values cached in your database. Stetho, once again, is a really useful tool that allows you to edit the cached SharedPreferences in your app. SqlLiteManager is another tool that can assist you in clearly seeing the values in your database.

6. App testing

In software engineering, testing does not imply running through all of the functions to see if they perform properly. At the very least, writing use cases and running unit tests is essential.

Along with these technical skills, to be a leader, you must work on your soft skills.

How to get remote senior android developer jobs?

Athletes and programmers have many things in common. They must practice successfully and on a regular basis in order to excel at their craft. They must also put in the necessary effort to improve their abilities over time. In order for that advancement to occur, developers must focus on two critical things: soliciting the assistance of someone more experienced and successful in practice approaches while practicing, and utilizing more effective practice strategies. As a developer, you must know how much to practise, so enlist assistance and keep an eye out for signs of burnout!
