Job responsibilities
- Develop efficient solutions for systems, databases, UI, and web services
- Analyse existing software solutions to identify areas for improvement
- Proactively understand, learn & apply new technologies, best design practices & usability patterns
- Implement and support technical solutions to deliver business requirements
- Work with product managers, data analysts, and developers to ensure database code meets requirements
- Work with DBAs to ensure efficiency, integrity, and quality of database code and structures
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience developing PostgreSQL applications (rare exceptions for super talented applicants)
- Experience with database design and data modeling
- Extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL database design principle, integrity checks, and query optimization
- Expert knowledge of stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views in PostgreSQL
- Experience with scaling and performance optimization at the storage and application level
Preferred skills
- Prolific understanding of development styles and design patterns
- Sound knowledge of data structures and algorithms
- Working knowledge of full text indexing, message queuing, and other data concepts
- Familiarity with PostGIS, geospatial objects, and PostgreSQL support for JSON and NoSQL databases
