Software Engineering Manager

An early-stage startup seeking to change the way homeowners discover, learn about, and buy home services is looking for a Software Engineering Manager. The selected candidate will be responsible for promoting and assisting leadership at all levels of the organization. The company's mission is to provide the data, technology, and software solutions needed to digitally revolutionize the home services business across a wide range of trades and transaction channels.

Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with teams to ensure that incremental value is delivered while maintaining high-quality standards
• Support the strategic work of teams in partnership with the product and design functions
• Recruit, onboard, and retain a broad pool of excellent individuals
• People and teams can be developed through coaching, mentoring, and managerial assistance
• Conduct regular 1:1, goal-setting, and feedback meetings with engineers to guarantee their well-being and the health of the team, as well as to assist them in their learning and growth
• Work constantly to increase the inclusiveness and belonging on your team and throughout the business
• Maintain high levels of communication, efficiency, and collaboration across all team functions
• Promote and support the leadership at all levels of the company
• Empower team members to lead by providing direction and aligning them with opportunities
• By pushing larger organizational growth and cross-cutting activities with the rest of the engineering management team, you may help to constantly improve, expand, and establish strong support structures for the teams
• Assist teams in developing their skills in performance, reliability, resilience, scalability, maintainable architecture, and experimentation

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
• At least 5+ years of back-end programming experience with Go, MySQL, and microservices architecture
• Experience building and leading software development teams and delivering working software
• Experience hiring engineers who directly report to you and supporting them in their growth through active mentorship and planning
• Strong ability to develop systems that meet architectural objectives, including reusable, scalable code
• Ability to uphold software engineering best practices for quality, observability, and monitoring
• Experience with AWS, Lambda, SQS, SNS and Terraform is nice to have
• Proficiency in English
