Job description

A US-based automobile leasing company that is redefining the car-as-a-service model with the help of cutting-edge technology is looking for a Software Engineer. The selected candidate will work closely with the web and mobile app developers to design and build back-end functionalities that power the checkout experience. The company is developing a new digital auto-shopping experience that streamlines the entire process - from booking a car to paying for it. Users can now do it all using a sophisticated smartphone app. The company has managed to raise funding worth more than $2 bn so far. This role requires some overlap with the PST time zone.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop solutions with minimal requirements or instructions
  • Work through the workflow/customer experience, product/stakeholders and direct the team around unclear requirements while focusing on timelines
  • Work with stakeholders to get buy-in for API and architecture decisions
  • Conclude on critical decisions, consider software best practices, product realities, and various stakeholders’ concerns
  • Contribute code directly to the code base
  • Serve as a role model for how great software should be written in the team
  • Deliver projects timely while collaborating with other team leads

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer
  • 8+ years of experience with system architecture while leading software engineering projects
  • Excellent skills in architecting APIs and microservices to promote workflows and integrations
  • Demonstrable experience establishing great relationships with UX and Product Management teams
  • Solid Python experience building APIs for customer-facing mobile or web apps
  • Strong technical background
  • Prior experience mentoring engineers
  • Great efficiency and excellent collaboration skills
  • Experienced in performing thorough and educational code reviews and architectural reviews
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
