Job description

A fast-growing company leading in the urban planning industry and utilizing simulation-based urban planning and design, is looking for a Senior Front-End Developer. The selected candidate will be expected to spearhead initiatives and tackle tough challenges and big opportunities. The company is building tools and services that assist planners, real-estate developers, and policymakers to build and improve modern cities. This will be a full-time role requiring some overlap with the PST/EST time zones.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in lively, constructive, and productive debates with Design and Product Management
  • Balance the needs of application performance, time-to-market, and sublime look and feel
  • Collaborate with back-end developers for optimal performance, structure, and clarity around functionality and data
  • Translate complex workflows into simple ones
  • Help build the next set of exciting products to help realize the company goals
  • Mentor and guide junior UX developers
  • Knowledge of the latest technologies, but prudent about what to put into practice

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 7+ years of experience building web interfaces in a production environment, including interactive SPAs
  • Demonstrable experience with Node.js, JavaScript, HTML, React, and CSS
  • Prior experience building interactive websites or applications
  • Proficiency with cloud providers - Google Cloud Platform
  • Prior experience with Typescript, jQuery, Redux/Vuex, d3, turf.js, ESlint, and Webpack, and similar tools is nice to have
  • Experience with MapBox GL, three.js, or similar WebGL based technology is desirable
  • Experience with either building Analytical visualizations (charts, graphs, heatmaps, etc.) or using similar tools and libraries (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, Material-UI)
  • Sound knowledge of 3D constructs and interaction techniques
  • Previous background, domain knowledge, or exposure to urban planning, design, and architecture is nice to have
