Job description

An emerging company that is bringing the strategies and standards of a top quantitative hedge fund to a larger market, is looking for a Senior Cloud Data Engineer. The selected candidate will be implementing a wide variety of features to the existing platform and developing new features. The US-based company turns raw, external data into the accurate KPIs and dimensions that businesses and investors require to arrive at confident decisions. This will be a long-term role requiring some overlap with the EST time zone. 

  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with senior management, engineering, analytics, and business teams to build new features 
  • Evaluate data and suggest improvements to enhance its efficiency
  • Ensure that the data delivery mechanism is consistent throughout the data process
  • Collaborate with the team to develop operationally efficient analytic solutions

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s/PhD degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a data engineer 
  • Extensive experience in Python, SQL, ETL, and Data Engineering
  • Prolific experience in Data Science, AWS RDS, and Machine Learning is required
  • At least 6 years of experience in data engineering, data science, or related field with a proven record in operating, processing, and extracting values from large data
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, design patterns, OOP, threading, and multiprocessing
  • Core knowledge of software concepts such as lineage, governance, privacy, retention, and anonymity
  • Firm grasp of data management fundamentals and data storage principles
  • Passion for intuitive data models is a plus
  • Working knowledge of probability, statistical inference, and mathematical optimization
  • Demonstrable experience in AWS technologies such as S3, RDS, and Redshift
  • Knowledge of advanced statistics and experience implementing ML models
  • Proven collaboration and communication skills
  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers
