Job description

A US-based, mission-driven enterprise dedicated to delivering distributed, open-source solutions for global teams is looking for a Senior Data Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for building data pipelines that transform raw data into usable formats, serving analytical, operations, and business purposes. The company has gained solid financial backing from leading investors. It focuses on meeting the demands of stakeholders across the education and research marketplace. This position presents an excellent opportunity for the candidate to join a diverse, supportive, and highly collaborative team in creating meaningful impact and achieving set goals. It requires some time overlap with the EST time zone.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders and engineering teams to meet the data requirements 
  • Stay committed to solving user needs by contributing primarily to the back-end systems and services
  • Collaborate with the site reliability engineers to evaluate the best-in-class procedures for data management and consumption
  • Develop data pipelines to serve various functions for applications and customers 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant data engineering experience 
  • Experience in Python, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Docker, and SQL data modeling
  • Sound proficiency with dynamic languages like Python
  • Relevant experience with SQL, data modeling, and patterns
  • Solid understanding of big data processing and data pipeline tools
  • Working knowledge in integrating data storage solutions using databases such as PostgreSQL
  • Good understanding of time management, self-motivation, and self-discipline as a dedicated worker
  • Sound documentation and verbal communication skills to collaborate efficiently with the team
