Job description

A leading marketing & advertising company delivering services in digital talent, technology, and data & analytics, is looking for a Principal Data Engineer. As an engineer, you will lead efforts in the data engineering division and be responsible for laying out the architecture of projects. The company is trusted by global brands and focuses on providing exceptional results for clients. They have gained $40 mn in revenue, with up to 75% from Fortune 500 companies. Job Responsibilities:

  • Lay the architecture of new projects as well as select the associated tech stack 
  • Be at the forefront of the data engineering division and elevate the team to the next level
  • Plan the development cycles, deploying AGILE methodology and creating the foundations for good data stewardship together with the new data products
  • Set up a solid code framework with enough flexibility to adapt to the new business use cases
  • Make key decisions to drive the product forward

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in a data engineering role with a passion for data 
  • Deep understanding of cloud technologies as well as rock-solid programming best practices
  • Sound expertise with at least one object-oriented library (Python, Scala, Java)
  • Good understanding of common libraries in your language of choice
  • Expert SQL skills and a good understanding of existing SQL warehouses
  • Understanding of cloud ecosystems (Azure preferred), including the services as well as limitations 
  • Excellent understanding of enterprise coding best practices as well as general CI/CD practices
  • Expert level code architecture experience
  • Good people management and presentation skills 
  • Deep understanding of cloud security best practices, distributed systems (Spark, Dask), API connectivity, and cloud DWs (Snowflake, DynamoDB)
  • Top tier Git practices with experience managing repositories that include a large number of contributors
  • Previous experience setting up code review frameworks
  • Good appreciation for the AGILE methodology
  • Previous experience with consulting or project leadership is desirable
