Job description

A rapidly-growing company that is forging a reputation for itself as a world-class trader and investor in energy assets is looking for a Data Scientist. The selected candidate will be responsible for effortlessly combining data and research to address large-scale issues that affect both customers and businesses. The company derives revenue by using proprietary trading to optimize battery assets for wholesale electricity markets. Job Responsibilities:

  • Recognize connections and patterns in the data as well as any elements that might have an impact on the model's predictions
  • Increase value by connecting internal and external data sources to new insights
  • Actively collaborate with senior management, team members, and other stakeholders to meet a range of project goals
  • Organize information, look for errors, correct and weight the raw data, and then prepare it for processing

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a data scientist
  • Extensive experience with production-level software development in Python 
  • Nice to have prior C++, Java, and/or Go experience
  • In-depth knowledge of data science and machine learning, including training, testing, and model deployment
  • Prior experience working with vast amounts of data in a cloud environment
  • Extensive expertise in the use of AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Prolific knowledge of Git, CI/CD, and general professional software development
  • Demonstrable experience with operations research and optimization
  • Comprehensive knowledge in time series analysis, forecasting, and reinforcement learning
  • Strong traditional finance background and prior trading experience
  • Sound knowledge of designing and implementing quantitative trading algorithms (more on the sell side than the buy side)
  • Must be well-versed in swaps, futures, options, and basic contractual duties related to financial products
  • Must be an effective team player that can solve and solve tough issues
  • Strong knowledge of power markets
  • Fluent in spoken and written English communication
