Job responsibilities
- Integrate front-end elements with server-side logic
- Communicate closely with stakeholders, project managers, QA teams, and other developers to discuss project requirements and plan long-term product roadmap
- Write high-quality code, review existing code, and raise the bar for the team
- Maintain data interchange between server and the users
- Suggest efficient system solutions by comparing pros and cons of custom development and purchase alternatives
- Implement integration, SCRUM, code standards, and refactoring
- Identify bottlenecks and fix bugs as and when required
- Perform code reviews and run unit tests to ensure better code quality, organization, and automation
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT (or equivalent experience)
- At least 5+ years of experience in back-end development with Ruby (rare exceptions for highly skilled developers)
- Sound knowledge of Ruby programming language, its libraries and tools such as RSpec and Resque
- Good understanding of object-oriented programming, operating system concepts, databases, and system architecture
- Experience with REST API design and services development
- Experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into single system
- Comprehensive knowledge of MVC, Mocking, ORM, and RESTful APIs
- Fluency in English language for effective communication
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) with a 4 hour overlap with US time zones
Preferred skills
- Proven skill of documentation and ability to explain application workflow, system design, defects, and functionality concisely
- Familiarity with automated testing platforms such as Minitest, Cucumber, etc.
